And we’re back for Part Two! The FVSO presents two US Premieres of Doreen Carwithen, the first major female film composer who penned more than 60 film scores during her career. Live film will be projected above the orchestra for two works by Carwithen from the mid 20th century. The program concludes with two pieces featured in the 1937 film 100 Men & A Girl with Leopold Stokowski & Deanna Durbin. Stokowski would have a long association with the symphony in film, promoting various mediums that bridged the gap between the orchestral world and general public.
Katie Reardon, Soprano, earned her Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Connecticut and has built her music career at the intersection of classical and sacred music. Katie has performed extensively with many prestigious institutions including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on iconic stages including Orchestra Hall, Carnegie Hall, Ravinia, and Pritzker Pavilion. With extensive experience in sacred music, Katie has also sung in churches and cathedrals globally and has had the pleasure of participating in cathedral residencies throughout England. As a soloist, she has worked with numerous ensembles in the Chicago area, lending her voice to a variety of concert performances and collaborations. Throughout her studies, she has refined her vocal artistry under the guidance of voice teachers Levi Hernandez, Meredith Zeigler, and Jack Pott. When not making music, she spends time with her husband Patrick, and three sons James, Grayson, and Noah.
